In her latest body of work, Tatiana Boulos initiates a deliberate dialogue between two disciplines she long held apart: design and painting.
For years, she communicated through them as parallel languages, each belonging to its own world with separate sets of rules. As the disciplinary divide dissolves, design and painting are brought into a seemingly nuanced negotiation, one that prioritizes structure over strictness and balance over perfection. The visual logic of design, from systems of hierarchy to order and clarity, translates into a more intuitive painterly dialect. Across compositions, lines resist mechanical precision. They waver with intent, revealing the human hand.
While graphic in nature, the artist’s forms carry a sense of organic rhythm, breathing and shifting within the frame. There is pattern, but not repetition, structure, but never rigidity.
It is not merely a fusion of disciplines, but a reflection on coexistence at the nexus of order and improvisation, sharpness and ease, the clean and the intuitive.
