Jacques Innocenti was a French postwar and contemporary artist celebrated for his contributions to ceramics. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (1948), he quickly became a central figure in the vibrant pottery scene of Vallauris from 1949 onward.
Deeply influenced by Picasso, Innocenti worked with the region’s distinctive red clay, creating pieces that explored themes of portraits, bathers, and still lifes. His practice combined traditional craftsmanship with innovative techniques such as double firing and engobe painting, resulting in ceramics that were both expressive and modern.
Through his artistry and community engagement, Innocenti helped shape Vallauris into a hub of postwar ceramic creativity, leaving a lasting mark on French decorative arts.
